RMHC Day of Change
Thursday, September 9, 2010

When it’s in your pocket, your spare change may seem like a small amount. But when added with others’, it can make a HUGE difference.

The nickels, dimes and quarters dropped into RMHC Donation Boxes at McDonald’s restaurants last year added up to more than $19 million. Our local restaurants collected $126,000 last year from the canisters in our area.

All that change made it possible for Ronald McDonald House Charities to keep 4 million sick children and their families together in communities across the country.... And sick children cope better and heal faster when surrounded by their family.

Please join us September 9 for the RMHC DAY OF CHANGE.

Drop your small change into an RMHC Donation Box at participating McDonald’s to make a big difference. (Look for them at the counter or drive-thru.)

Host with the Most — Special Event
Wednesday, September 22, 2010

On Wednesday, September 22, Jennifer Alexander from B97.5 will be taking part in “The Search for Knoxville's Host with the Most!” Special Event at Side Splitters Comedy Club in Knoxville. Each media personality is doing 10 minutes of comedy for their charity and Jennifer’s charity is the Ronald McDonald House. If she sells the most tickets, a $100 donation will be made to the House. Then if Jennifer gets the most votes after her performance, a portion of the ticket sales will go to the House. To support Jennifer and the Ronald McDonald House, you can purchase tickets online at Side Splitters Comedy Club and use promo code JA.

UT Football Parking

Again this year, the Bearden High School Key Club will be parking cars at the Ronald McDonald House during UT football home games. Five hours prior to kick-off, faculty sponsor Ernie Roberts and a host of dedicated members will brave the elements to sell parking places to ardent fans. The cost is $20 and all proceeds go the House. Over $10,000 was raised last year.

14th Annual Freaky Friday Fright Night

Friday, October 29, 2010 — 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Mayor Bob Leonard Park on Watt Road

Children age 12 and under and in costume are invited to "trick or treat" around the walk trail at the park. Local businesses, community groups and Town volunteers will hand out the treats, provide games with prizes, assist with cookie decorating and serve refreshments.

The Town of Farragut has partnered with the Knoxville Ronald McDonald House each year of the event since 2000 in order to collect essential items that the House needs to continue day-to-day operations.

Freaky Friday Fright Nite is a free event. However, participants are asked to donate one of the following items for the House: grocery or hardware store gift cards (Walmart, Food City, Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.), phone cards, postage stamps, all sizes of garbage bags, individually wrapped snacks (granola bars, chips, etc.), air freshener spray, paper towels, laundry detergent, gallon size zip lock bags, hand soap and hand sanitizer pump bottles, and Lysol spray cleaner. Collection stations will be located at two areas: next to the cookie decorating station and next to the entrance from the Harrison Road parking lot.

Additional information about the mission of the Knoxville Ronald McDonald House and volunteer opportunities can be found by visiting www.knoxrmhc.org or by calling 637-7475.
